Medicare, Teen Dental and Chronic Disease Dental Scheme

We are often asked the question, "Can you bulk bill my treatment?", and unfortunately the answer is no. The one exception to this rule is if you are a teenager and have a Teen Dental Voucher. If this is the case, you are entitled to a medicare funded checkup and clean each time you are sent a voucher.

There is a medicare funded program called the Chronic Disease Dental Scheme. If you believe you may be eligible for this scheme, you should discuss it with your GP. Eligibility is NOT up to your dentist and the program cannot be initiated by your dentist.

If your GP deems that you are eligible for treatment under CDDS, they will submit a form to medicare and give you a referral to see a dentist. In this case, medicare will fund most of your treatment, but not all of it. Each procedure will incur an out of pocket expense, IN ADDITION to the medicare payment.
