As the old adage goes, prevention is better than cure, and teeth are no exception. Regular check ups, x-rays, and professional cleans are essential in maintaining good oral health.
If a problem is detected during a check-up or emergency appointment, we offer a range of solutions, including white fillings, porcelain crowns and root canal. As a general rule, the least invasive procedure is considered the most desirable.

The field of cosmetic dentistry covers a wide range of concepts. There are many ways to improve your smile, and many options can be offered to you. Obviously, the needs of each patient differ greatly, but cosmetic services offered at Windsor Dental Clinic include:
At Windsor Dental Clinic, we are proud to call ourselves a family practice, and as such, treat children of all ages. It is of great importance that children become accustomed to having their teeth checked from a young age (3-4 years), so they can learn early on in life that visiting the dentist is a fun experience. We provide incentives such as novelty toothbrushes, stickers and stamps to reward kids for attending.
If a tooth has a crack or significant loss of structure due to decay, a crown may be required. A crown acts as a helmet that covers the entire tooth surface and protects it from further damage. In order to make a crown, the dentist must prepare the tooth surface, take an impression and have a laboratory custom make the crown. At Windsor Dental Clinic, we can provide full porcelain crowns, combination of porcelain and metal crowns, or gold alloy crowns. The type of crown recommended by your dentist will take into account aesthetics and function.
In some cases, a complete crown is not required, and a porcelain veneer can be placed. Veneers are often indicated when aesthetics is the main reason for treatment. Veneers can mask some stains, whiten the appearance of the teeth, improve the smile line, and improve the contour of the front teeth.
Despite many advances in modern dentistry, many patients are still quite nervous about dental treatment. At Windsor Dental Clinic, there are ways we can help. We have nitrous oxide ("happy gas") available to help relax patients during treatment. The happy gas has proved very effective for both adults and children who are feeling apprehensive. Best of all, it wears off extremely quickly, so there are no lasting effects for the rest of the day.
If a tooth has suffered extensive decay, a root canal may be required. This involves removing the nerve and blood vessels from inside the root of the tooth, using x-rays to determine the exact length of the root, then finally filling the inside of the root cavity with a rubber-like material. This procedure is done under local anaesthetic, and usually requires 3 visits.
Despite our best efforts, there will occasionally be times when a tooth requires extraction. In such cases, Windsor Dental Clinic can take care of your needs.
If the tooth in question is a wisdom tooth, we may or may not choose to perform the procedure in our rooms. Unfortunately, wisdom teeth are sometimes partially or fully submerged beneath the gum or jaw bone. If this is the case, extraction under local anaesthetic can be complicated and unpleasant for the patient. At Windsor Dental Clinic, we have a close relationship with several Oral Surgeons who we know and trust. Sometimes a referral to such a specialist is the best option, so that complicated extractions can be performed under a general anaesthetic.
